Plans, billing & quote limits

QuotWay has four plans: Lite (free), Starter, Professional, and Enterprise. Billing is handled entirely through Shopify - QuotWay charges appear as line items on the same Shopify invoice you already receive, and you never enter a payment card with us. This article covers what each plan includes, how the 14-day trial works, how quote limits and Starter overage are metered, and how upgrades, downgrades, annual billing, and uninstalling affect your account.

Shopify B2B features (Companies, Locations, payment terms) require a store with B2B enabled, such as Shopify Plus. They are gated by your store's B2B capability and the Enterprise plan - not by Shopify Plus alone.

The 14-day free trial

Every paid plan (Starter, Professional, Enterprise) includes a 14-day free trial. During the trial you get full access to that plan's features, so you can evaluate exactly what you're considering before the first charge. Settings → Billing shows the days remaining.

When the trial ends, you choose what happens next:

  • Pick a paid plan → confirm the Shopify-managed charge dialog. Your first invoice starts then.
  • Continue free → choose the Lite plan and keep the core quoting workflow (10 quotes/month).

Trial time is tracked per shop. If you uninstall and reinstall, you resume with whatever trial days you had left - reinstalling does not grant a fresh 14 days.


Quote limits & Starter overage

A quote counts toward your monthly limit when a quote request is created. Limits reset at the start of each billing cycle.

  • Lite includes 10 quotes/month. When you reach the limit, you're prompted to upgrade. Existing quotes keep working.
  • Starter includes 200 quotes/month. Beyond that, each additional quote is $0.50, capped at $100/month - so a heavy month never produces a surprise bill. The dashboard shows your live overage count.
  • Professional and Enterprise include unlimited quotes, with no overage.

If Starter overage is a regular thing, the math is worth checking: 200 quotes plus $100 of overage is about $129 a month, more than Professional's $79. Professional is unlimited, so upgrading often saves money as well as time.

Annual Starter has no metered overage. The 200/month allowance applies as a soft limit instead.


Upgrading and downgrading

You can change plans at any time. Billing is handled through Shopify.

Upgrading

  1. Go to Admin → Apps → QuotWay → Billing → Upgrade plan.
  2. Pick the new tier.
  3. Shopify shows the prorated charge dialog. Confirm it.
  4. The new tier's features unlock immediately.

The first higher-plan invoice is prorated to the remainder of your current billing cycle.

Downgrading

  1. Go to Admin → Apps → QuotWay → Billing → Downgrade plan.
  2. Pick the lower tier.
  3. The change takes effect at the next billing cycle - you keep the current tier's features until then.

Features unique to the higher plan stop working at the cycle boundary. Data you created on the higher plan stays visible per the retention policy.


Annual billing (save 20%)

Annual billing is available on every paid plan at a 20% discount. Pick the interval on the pricing page or in the billing dialog. Annual pricing works out to:

  • Starter: $23/mo billed annually
  • Professional: $63/mo billed annually
  • Enterprise: $159/mo billed annually

Annual Starter applies its 200/month volume as a soft limit rather than charging metered overage.


What happens when you uninstall

You can cancel at any time by uninstalling the app. Your current cycle's invoice is the last one - there's no early-termination fee and no auto-renewal into a new cycle.

Your Shopify products, customers, and orders stay in Shopify, untouched. Your QuotWay quote data is preserved so that reinstalling picks up where you left off, including any remaining trial days. QuotWay supports Shopify's data request and erasure webhooks, and you control quote-data retention. See Privacy & data for what we store and the per-plan retention windows.


Billing through Shopify

QuotWay uses Shopify's billing exclusively, so there's one bill to track.

  • Shopify Admin → Settings → Billing is your master invoice list. QuotWay charges appear as line items on the regular Shopify invoice you already receive.
  • QuotWay Admin → Settings → Billing is a QuotWay-specific view with your usage breakdown (quote count and, on Starter, overage count).

QuotWay never sees or stores your payment card. Refunds for service outages are handled case by case; voluntary cancellation is not refunded. See the Terms of Service for details.
