Your first quote in 5 minutes
Read time: 4 minutes. Last updated: June 20, 2026 Who it's for: New merchants who want to run one full quote loop - request to draft order - right after install, to confirm everything works.
This is the shortest path through QuotWay. In about five minutes you'll watch a single quote travel the whole round-trip: a buyer requests it on your storefront, you build and send a priced proposal, the buyer accepts it, and you convert it into a Shopify draft order. Every step below is the shipped flow - nothing here is a preview or a future feature.
What you'll achieve
By the end you'll have one accepted quote in your admin (status FULLY_ACCEPTED) and a matching Shopify draft order at the agreed price. That confirms your install, your storefront button, your buyer experience, and conversion all work end to end.
Before you start
- QuotWay is installed and you've finished the onboarding wizard. If not, see Getting started with QuotWay.
- The quote button is visible on at least one product. Check it on your live storefront, or see Quote button placement.
- A way to act as a buyer - your own account in a private window, or a colleague with a Customer Account on
<your-shop>.
Step 1 - Request a quote as a buyer (about 1 minute)
Open your storefront the way a buyer would. On a product page that matches your targeting rules, select Request a quote. The quote drawer opens. Fill in the form - name, email, quantity, and any fields you turned on - and submit.
The buyer sees a confirmation that their request is in. You don't need their account for this; guest requests work too.
๐ก Show me in the app: this is your live storefront, not the admin. Use a private window so you're not logged in as the merchant.
Step 2 - Open the request in your inbox (about 30 seconds)
Switch to your Shopify admin and open Apps โ QuotWay โ Quotes. The new request sits at the top of the list as a fresh quote. Open it to see the buyer's details and the products they asked about.
๐ก Show me in the app: Quotes in the left nav. New, unanswered requests surface in the "needs attention" view on your dashboard.
Step 3 - Build and send a proposal (about 2 minutes)
Inside the quote, select Send proposal to open the proposal editor. Here you set the price the buyer will see:
- Adjust the per-line buyer price, or apply a discount (percentage or fixed amount).
- Add a short message - context, terms, or a thank-you.
- Select Send proposal.
The quote moves to status PROPOSAL_SENT, and QuotWay emails the buyer a link to review it. Every plan can send a Proposal.
๐ก Show me in the app: the proposal editor is the Send proposal button inside any open quote.
Step 4 - Accept the proposal as the buyer (about 1 minute)
Back as the buyer, open the email QuotWay sent and follow the link. Depending on your store, that lands in either the Buyer portal (legacy customer accounts) or the customer-account view (new customer accounts) - the buyer doesn't have to choose; QuotWay routes them. Review the priced proposal and select Accept.
In your admin, the quote status updates to FULLY_ACCEPTED.
๐ก Show me in the app: refresh the quote in Quotes and confirm the status badge reads
FULLY_ACCEPTED.
Step 5 - Convert to a Shopify draft order (about 30 seconds)
Open the accepted quote in your admin and select Convert to draft order. QuotWay creates a Shopify draft order at the agreed price. From there, send it for payment or invoice the buyer from Shopify exactly as you would any other draft order. The quote reflects its FULLY_CONVERTED state.
๐ก Show me in the app: the Convert to draft order button appears on an accepted quote. The new draft order opens in Shopify's own Orders area.
That's the complete loop - request to order. Everything else in QuotWay (counter-offers, approvals, automation, multi-currency) builds on these same five steps.
