Add a quote button to the cart and mini-cart

Read time: 5 minutes. Last updated: June 20, 2026 Who it's for: Merchants who want buyers to turn a whole cart into a single quote - from the cart page and from the slide-out cart drawer (mini-cart).

QuotWay can put a Request a quote button in two cart places: the cart page and the mini-cart drawer (the slide-out cart panel that opens when a buyer adds an item). The cart-page button is a theme app block you place in the theme editor. The mini-cart button is injected automatically by QuotWay - drawers can't host theme blocks, so there's nothing to place. Either way, the button appears only when the cart holds quote-eligible items, and a buyer who clicks it sends the whole cart as one quote request.

⚠️ The cart and mini-cart quote button require the Starter, Professional, or Enterprise plan. On the free Lite plan, the cart and mini-cart buttons stay off.

What you'll achieve

By the end, buyers see a Request a quote button on your cart page, in your mini-cart drawer, or both - and clicking it opens the QuotWay drawer pre-loaded with the eligible cart lines.

Before you start

  • QuotWay is installed and the app embed is on. The mini-cart button is injected by the app embed, so the embed must be live. See App embed and activation.
  • You're on the Starter plan or above (the 14-day trial on any paid plan unlocks these buttons during the trial).
  • At least one active targeting rule, so QuotWay knows which cart lines are quote-eligible. See Targeting rules.

Add the cart-page button (theme block)

The cart-page button is the QuotWay Cart Quote Button theme app block. Place it once in the theme editor - no Liquid to edit.

  1. From your QuotWay admin, open Activation status → Open theme editor, or go to Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Choose Cart in the top-left page picker.
  3. Under the cart section, select Add block, then add Apps → QuotWay Cart Quote Button.
  4. Drag it above the Checkout button so buyers see both options.
  5. Select Save.

There's also a one-click path in the app: under Quote button → Style, turn on Also show the quote button on the cart page. That enables the feature and shows a live placement badge with an Add to cart page deep link - but you still place the block in the theme editor as above. The badge reads Added to cart page once the block is live.

Turn on the mini-cart (drawer) button

The mini-cart button needs no theme block - QuotWay injects one button near the drawer's checkout button automatically.

  1. Open Quote button → Style.
  2. Turn on Also show the quote button in the cart drawer (mini-cart). It's on by default once you're on a paid plan.
  3. Select Save.

QuotWay then injects the button above your drawer's checkout button (or in the drawer footer) whenever the cart contains quote-eligible items, using your cart-button styling. As buyers add and remove items, the button shows or hides to match - and clicking it closes the theme's drawer, then opens the QuotWay drawer with the eligible lines loaded.

Advanced: custom cart-drawer selectors

QuotWay auto-detects the drawer in Dawn, Horizon, and most Shopify themes. If your theme uses an unusual drawer markup and the button doesn't appear in it, point QuotWay at your drawer container.

  1. In Quote button → Style, with the mini-cart button on, open the Cart drawer - advanced box.
  2. In Custom cart-drawer CSS selectors, enter your theme's drawer container selector - for example cart-drawer, #CartDrawer, or .mini-cart. Add one selector per line.
  3. Select Save.

Only add a selector if the button doesn't appear in your drawer; the built-in detection covers most themes without any custom selector.

How the button behaves

  • Eligibility - the button shows only when at least one cart line is a quote-eligible product, decided by your targeting rules. A cart of retail-only items checks out as normal with no quote button.
  • Whole-cart request - clicking it sends every eligible line in the cart as one quote, so buyers don't request line by line.
  • Styling - both cart buttons use your cart-button style and color from Quote button → Style, falling back to the product-button styling.
  • Label - edit the cart button label per language in Settings → Storefront text.

Common gotchas

  • The mini-cart button doesn't appear. Confirm the app embed is on (it injects the drawer button), you're on Starter or above, and the cart holds at least one quote-eligible item. If your theme's drawer is unusual, add a custom selector (above).
  • The cart-page button doesn't appear. The checkbox only sets the flag - you must also place the QuotWay Cart Quote Button block on your cart template in the theme editor.
  • The button vanishes when the cart updates. It's meant to: the button hides when no remaining line is quote-eligible, and re-appears when an eligible item is added. Themes re-render the drawer on every cart change, and QuotWay re-injects the button automatically.
  • Both buttons feel redundant. They're independent - turn off either the cart-page checkbox or the mini-cart checkbox in Quote button → Style if you only want one.
